FAQs

Here are answers to some frequently asked questions. If you can’t find the answer to your question here then please contact us and we will do our best to help you.

How far are the nearest beaches, and good restaurants?

Nearest beaches are 20 minutes away in Lido di Camaiore or 30 minutes in Pietrasanta/Forte dei Marmi. Restaurant information is in the house information folder. Lots of small local restaurants and bars in Camaiore. Michelin starred and grander restaurants a short drive away.

What about cleaning?

Our housekeeper prepares the house for your arrival. If you let us know in advance we will ask her to come during your stay for an extra cost - 10€ an hour, which you may pay to her directly.

Keeping cool or warm?

There are electric fans for summer heat; central heating for the cooler months and the house is fully double glazed.

There are open log fires and a wood supply.

Is there space for car-parking?

There is lots of space for cars on the gravel drive in front of and to the side of the house.

Can I get a mobile phone signal at the house?

There is good mobile phone signal at the house.

Are towels and bed linen provided?

Bed linen and towels are supplied. The housekeeper will change these once a week (if you are staying for more than one week) but please put swimming towels through the washing machine yourselves.

There is no baby linen for the cot, so bring your own or improvise with what is available.

How far is the nearest supermarket?

There are good independent shops in Camaiore, with banks, cashpoints, pharmacies and a medium sized supermarket (Conad).

Large supermarkets - 20 minutes away - are in Viareggio or at Lido di Camaiore (Esselungo, Co-op and Lidl).

There is a large street market on Friday mornings.

There are several delicatessens including a very good one, Bonuccelli, one of our favourites - details at the house.

Is Villa Rosa baby/toddler friendly?

We have lots of baby guests. There is a travel cot and a highchair; bring your own baby monitors and adaptor plugs for northern Europe. There are no baby gates, so a vigilant grandparent or aunty or uncle are necessary to give parents peace of mind on the stairs, out in the gardens and beside the pool. Bring your own cot linen or improvise from what's available.

Can we bring our pets?

Sorry no cats because other guests who come after you may be allergic. And no dogs. Fencing does not extend round the whole property, so dogs running free may get lost in the hills or stray onto the road. If you have an assistance dog please inform us in advance.

Where is the nearest hospital and what health care should I have?

The nearest hospital with an A &E - Pronto Soccorso - is in Lido di Camaiore (about 20 minutes away). There is a local Misericordia on the main road just outside Camaiore which functions as a minor injuries service. Make sure you bring an EHIC card with you. The local pharmacies sell all basic medications.

Can I get on the internet?

There is no broadband available. There is good mobile network signal at the house. We purchase a local sim card for tablet computer and/or a dongle for laptop or a sim based wifi router for several devices. Sim cards can be bought in Camaiore. (You need your passport for this)

No satellite TV we’re afraid but there is a DVD player and HiFi with a good collection of classical CDs and a small collection of DVDs and a stereo jack connector lead for phones and iPods.

Our party is too large for the house. Can we put tents up in the garden?

The house is not suitable for more than 16 +2 people, and we recommend no more than two or three families to join in the rental. There are two 'put you up beds' for squeezing into the larger bedrooms. We don't encourage use of tents- please contact us to discuss.

Can I pay in Euros/Dollars?

You can pay in sterling by bank transfer to our UK account. You may pay in euros to our Italian account. You can pay in dollars if you find a way to convert them into sterling or euros as you make the transfer.
